Compass Early Learning and Care Millbrook opened its doors to the Millbrook community in 2017. Built as part of an addition to Millbrook South Cavan School, we are excited to be a part of this growing community. Our growing partnerships with the school, local businesses, as well as the many green spaces that surround us, provide valued extensions to our rich learning environments which engage children's natural curiosity.

We welcome children as young as 6 weeks of age, with many of them continuing with us in our school-age program. During their time with us we encourage parents and caregivers to engage with us in their child(ren)'s learning through parent evenings, learning stories, portfolios, and various projects. Relationships are at the heart of all that we do.

Programs Include:

 Stay N'Play

This is a FREE drop-in program for parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children aged 0 to 6. It is currently offered throughout the year. 

  • We are open: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am-2:00pm 
  • Wednesdays 11:30am-6:00pm
  • Sundays 9:30am-1:00pm.

 Please note that we are closed the Sunday of every long weekend.

 Intergenerational Music and Movement

This program is a joint venture between Centennial Place and The Old Millbrook School EarlyON Child and Family Centre.  It includes songs, dances, instruments and fun that will get both young and old moving to the music and enjoying each other’s smiling faces. Snack is provided. 

** Please note: Parents are reminded to keep sick children at home for the health of our friends at Centennial Place.

 Drop In Gym

Get ready to work up a sweat (or at least have a lot of fun) being active and busy at the Family Centre's free drop-in gym program.  This runs the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 9:30 til' 11:30 and takes place upstairs at the Old School, in the Dorothy Stevens Room on the 3rd Floor.

Lots of fun gym equipment is put out, including balls, balance boards, tunnels, plasma cars and more.  Physical activity is so important for growing little bodies and most children in Canada do not get enough exercise each day. Please stay for snack after, downstairs in the Family Centre.

Sensory Sensitive Drop In
Sensory Sensitive Fridays are offered on the third Friday of each month.  This Drop-In day is available to families with children who have unique sensory processing needs in order to allow for a safe and inclusive play environment.

Parents and Caregivers are invited to join us each month for a fun evening of family cooking.  Did you know that children are far more likely to eat when they help prepare the food with you.  We will be making tacos together! This is scheduled once a month after our Stroller Walk.  Chat with a Public Health Nurse about your child's growth and development.  No appointment is needed. Join us for the walk or arrive around 11:00a.m.to chat with the PHN.
