Millbrook Water Storage - Notice of Class Environmental Assessment

The Township of Cavan Monaghan is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for a new water storage system in Millbrook.

The Township of Cavan Monaghan recently completed a Water and Wastewater Master Servicing Study (MSS), under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) framework. As part of this study, a preferred alternative for the water storage aspect was to increase the water storage volume and accommodate Millbrook’s forecasted growth. The preferred alternative was to have additional water storage at a new location and retain the existing standpipe by the Municipal Office. The purpose of the study is to confirm the location, capacity, and storage type for the new storage solution. The study will follow the Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class EA process as set out by the Municipal Engineers Association (October 2000 amended in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2023 and 2024)

The Township of Cavan Moghan will be considering and evaluating suitable sites for the construction of a new water storage tank within Millbrook’s Settlement Area Boundary (see figure 1 in the enclosed notice). The Township will look at the existing water system to identify any necessary improvements and impacts that the construction of the tank may have on the potential sites.

Public consultation is critical to the success of the study. We welcome your comments and will provide opportunities for your input throughout the study. There will be a Public Information Centre (PIC) scheduled, providing an opportunity to share information, obtain your input and respond to questions. Further details on the upcoming PIC will be provided as the project progresses. The EA is planned to be completed in 2025.
