Brookside Street Storm Sewer Construction

Notice of Construction
Please be advised that the construction along Brookside Street (Storm sewer upgrades) is scheduled to begin the week of November 11th, 2024. The Area of Construction is illustrated on the map in the notice below.
The following table provides an estimated schedule of the planned works:
  • Construction Starts: November 11, 2024
  • Construction Ends: December 15, 2024
Please note that the timeline is approximate and will vary dependent upon weather and other factors. An updated schedule will be provided to residents as the project progresses.

Storm Sewer Installation and Restoration:

As part of the storm sewer installation and restoration, the contractor will be installing a secondary storm sewer system in the boulevard. With the construction of the storm sewer, the contractor will install a storm sewer lateral to the property line of each property. The intention for the storm lateral is for existing sump pumps currently being discharged to the surface or connected to the sanitary sewer to be redirected to the storm sewer lateral. The work required to connect the sump pump to the storm sewer lateral shall be in accordance with Municipal Policies. Please refer to By-law 2023-48 for more information about sump pump regulations.

Garbage and Recycling Collection:

Garbage and recycling will be collected as per normal schedule. Please ensure that your garbage and recycling is at the curb prior to 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled day of collection and that your garbage and recycling bins have your address marked on them. If the trucks are unable to access your driveway, the contractor will move them to a collection point and return them after collection.

Driveway Access:

Access to driveways will be maintained, however, access may be restricted when operations are directly in front of your property. The Contractor will notify residents and businesses as work approaches to ensure all vehicles are removed prior to blocking the driveway. Vehicles may need to be parked overnight in an adjacent location until temporary access can be restored to your driveway.

Safety Concerns:

Please be aware that the nature of work involves excavations, operation of large heavy equipment, etc. Please keep a safe distance from all work areas.
