Arts, Culture and Heritage

The Township of Cavan Monaghan is rich with diverse local arts, culture and heritage.  A number of organizations work to encourage and develop initiatives that add to the richness.

Culture in the Township

The Township was the proud recipient of the Creative Communities Partnership Fund program introduced by the Ministry of Culture. Cavan Monaghan is the smallest municipality in the province to have received funding to undertake a cultural resource mapping exercise, which is a founding step towards municipal cultural planning.  Visit the Cultural Mapping Final Report for more information.

There are also many arts, culture & heritage resources throughout the Region. Peterborough and the Kawarthas Tourism has a diverse list of places to visit and things to see.

The 2018 Municipal Heritage Recognition Awards

The Municipal Revitalization and Heritage Advisory (MRHA) Committee, would like to honour members of the community that have made a significant contribution to the preservation of the historical integrity and/or the natural architectural, narrative or archival of the Township.  The committee feels it is important to recognize individuals who are committed to preserving our natural heritage as a way of encouraging others in the Community to do the same. 

The Township is receiving nominations for the 2018 Municipal Heritage Recognition Awards.  Deadline for nominations is January 15, 2018.

The Municipal Heritage Recognition Award is for individuals or organizations who have made changes or updates to their homes or business' which are in keeping with, and sympathetic to, the historic integrity of the building, site or landscape of the property.
